1. Information We Collect

When you create a Tagback account, we collect your email address and optional profile information. When you create tags, we store the information you provide (descriptions, contact preferences, medical details for person tags, etc.).

When a finder scans a QR tag, we may collect their approximate location (if they choose to share it), messages they send, and photos they upload. We also collect basic analytics such as scan timestamps and device type.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

Display your tag information to finders who scan your QR codes
Send you notifications when your tags are scanned
Relay messages and location data between finders and tag owners
Improve our service and fix bugs
Communicate with you about your account and service updates

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We only share your data in the following circumstances:

With finders: Only the information you explicitly choose to display on your tags
Service providers: We use third-party services for hosting, notifications, and analytics
Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect safety

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure data storage, and access controls. Your personal contact information is never directly exposed to finders.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data and tag information is permanently removed within 30 days. Scan analytics may be retained in anonymized form.

7. Children's Privacy

Tagback accounts can only be created by users aged 16 or older. Person tags created for children are managed by the parent or guardian who owns the account. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
